Salmon River Camping Trip

Bella lost one flip-flop and then discovered it the next day washed up on an old sunken boat.

Bella and the girls hanging out on a log.

Swimming in the freezing snow run-off from Mt. Hood.

More log hanging out.

Coco sulking because Daisy is getting a lot of attention for retrieving sticks in the river.

Jon does a happy dance because the tent is up!

I love the sun.

Daisy Bear loves the water.

So does Bella.

The 3 Musketeers. Sulky, Happy, Sulky.

What Coco wants, Coco gets.

Slipping on slippery rocks.

We will be back!

We went camping to the beautiful Salmon River on Friday and came back to Portland this afternoon.

Jon: Found the best camping spot on the whole river, 5ft from the water with our own personal pier, swimming pool and old-growth log maze for Bella and Ewan.

Bella: The water was freezing!!! And Coco insisted on getting in my sleeping bag :( Roasted marshmallows were one of my favorites. Ewan and I made a secret hideout in this log maze. And Daddy and I walked in the dark forest looking at the stars.

Ewan: SWIMMING: I went swimming it was fun but rocky at the bottom. FIRE: roasted marshmallows but they caught fire and turned black. LOG MAZE: We had a secret hideout under a bunch of logs and slipped on slippery rocks and got wet. TENT: It was warm inside our bags but the only bad thing was that Coco made holes in the tent and stepped on people's faces all night. I really enjoyed sitting on the rocks, splashes of cold water hitting my face as I gazed upon the beautiful Salmon River. DONE.

Ali: Salmon River is incredibly beautiful, my first real wilderness camping. I did have a nightmare the first night about a rabid raccoon attacking Coco (check out scary raccoon story on This American Life. ) Jonathan had a nightmare about not being able to download his email. He must need a vacation.
